La fondation OSGeo (Open Source Geospatial) fournit l’infrastructure principale d’hébergement et de développement ainsi que du personnel pour le projet mais aussi pour beaucoup d’équipes de développement qui contribue à celui-ci.
LISAsoft fournit des ressources et du personnel pour gérer et packager les logiciels pour créer le DVD OSGeo-Live.
Centre d’Informations pour l’Environnement de l’Université de Californie, Davis fournit des ressources matérielles et du support de développement pour le projet OSGeo-Live.
Les projets DebianGIS et UbuntuGIS fournissent et vérifient la qualité de nombreux paquets principaux.
Le bureau du gouvernement australien de gestion des données spatiales a sponsorisé la relecture par LISAsoft des vues d’ensemble logicielles, pour assurer une écriture plus consistante et pertinente de la description des projets.
La Fondation Open Source Geospatiale (OSGeo), est une association loi 1901 (mais de type américaine) dont la mission est d’aider et de promouvoir le développement collaboratif des données et des technologies géospatiales ouvertes. La fondation fournit une aide financière, organisationnelle et légale à la communauté géospatiale libre la plus large. Elle sert également d’entité légale indépendante où les membres de la communauté peuvent contribuer au code, aux finances et aux autres ressources, et sont assurés que leurs contributions seront maintenues au bénéfice du public. OSGeo sert également d’organisation, d’assistance et de défense pour la communauté géospatiale libre, et fournit un forum commun et une infrastructure partagée pour améliorer la collaboration entre projets.
Les projets de la fondation sont tous librement disponibles et utilisables sous une licence opensource certifiée par l’OSI.
Ce disque et cette machine virtuelle Live GIS ont été assemblés par les membres de la communauté OSGeo pour montrer des cas d’utilisations de leurs logiciels géospatiaux libres et opensource (Free and Open Source Software ou FOSS). Nous avons inclus un nombre important de logiciels non-OSGeo, orientés SIG et par ailleurs, que nous espérons que vous trouverez aussi utiles que nous même.
